What's Wrong With This Picture

.
This is a very strange year so far.
My daffs are usually opening the very last of their buds when the tulips are still tightly closed and deciding whether it's time to open theirs.

Here is this years situation -
The daffodils are just barely beginning to open their buds:

And the tulips, who should be at least two to three weeks behind total bloom of the daffs, look like this:

I have never, ever had tulips this far along this early in the year. Certainly not trying to beat out the daff blooms! (See the hyacinth tucked in the tulip foliage? Not even thinking of sending up a bloom yet. Say what?)
Honestly, I don't blame the tulips for thinking it must be time. The weather has been complete wackiness for the last month, going from record 80's F temps back down to freezing every night for this coming week.
I think I'd be a tad confused myself.
I sure hope this wackiness doesn't continue through the summer. Three sucky growing years in a row would, well . . . suck!

Happy (bloomin' tulips!) Growing!

It has definitely been a strange spring so far. My tulips aren't as far along as yours yet, but they are in full bud, while my daffs haven't even bloomed yet. Instead of getting a nice, staggered bloom time, all of my bulbs will bloom at once and I'll be waiting for flowers until May. Stupid weather... :-)

Hiya, Colleen,
thanks for dropping by!
I know! I keep thinking the same thing - I'm going to have everything in bloom and then...pffft...I'll be bloomless for an unreasonable and ridiculous amount of time. Not acceptable! lol.

Everything here has been at least a month late which has been unusal!
There's forsythsia in flower everywhere which is usually seen in late February!

I think everyone is finding their weather out of whack this year. In our case, things are early, which gives me the heebie jeebies because if we get a cold snap/freeze, it will be a disaster for fruitgrowers (my area is the big fruit growing part of Atlantic Canada). It's like our weather fell through the looking glass, or something.

Hey there, Laura,
thanks for dropping in!
That's the first thing I thought, "Poor tulips."

Hiya, Flighty,
thanks for popping by!
Hmmm, your weather is way behind, ours was way ahead. Dun, dun, duuuunn! We'll have to see what Ma Nature has in store next.

Hi there, Jodi,
thanks for dropping by!
"It's like our weather fell through the looking glass, or something." Exactly!
I was all excited my peach trees made it through our rough winter with flying colors, now I'm worried about the buds. OK, I really shouldn't be since we have to remove all the fruit from them this year, but still. I hope the fruit growers make it out of spring in, at least, decent condition.
