Seeds Sown And A First Haircut

...

No, not a haircut for a kid (the last first one of those was 17 years ago). For the onions.
:)
They're so cute!

I sowed the cole crop seeds today:
Broccoli
Cabbage
Brussel Sprouts (I'm hoping the weather cooperates for them a bit better this year)
and Cauliflower

There's still two more weeks to go before I can get the pepper and tom seeds started.
~sigh~ It's so hard to wait!
Crap - they're already getting these plants in the ground down south.
Yes, zone envy rears its ugly head. Even Flighty is seeing lots of green!
My ground? White, frozen, undigable and depressing.

Total WS jugs to date = 21 (yes, I'm a slacker)

A quick aside:
Trudi, at Wintersown.org, has changed how people have to go about getting the free seed offer. As of tomorrow, March 1, you have to print out a dated page and send it with the SASE postmarked within a week of that date to get them. Really, I understand her reasoning and people who take advantage of these offers suck, but what are you suppose to do if you don't have a printer? (like, right now, I have no ink, and at $20ish a pop, I won't be getting any soon!) This may leave some of those that are very deserving of these offers with no way to get them.
:(

Oh! And I'm going to do the 'Hay Bale Gardening' this year as an experiment. Our neighbor is getting rid of a bunch of them that are already degrading, so yay! I can't wait - like I need something else to obsess over.

Thanks for the linked mention!
There may plenty of signs of spring here but we did get some snow in April last year!
Don't be too envious as the ground here is still very sticky but in a week or so I hope to plant my onion sets followed by the early potatoes.
You've been busier than I have with sowing seeds! xx

Wow! I got 56 WS containers planted and thought I was a slacker. Have any of yours sprouted? A few of mine have already.

Hiya Flighty!
Are you kidding - I love your blog!
:)
Yes, we seem to have gotten that last hurrah freeze from winter in April the last few years, too. Big bummer.
See, you're planting in a week and I still have a month, at least, before I can get anything in.
~sigh~

Hey there, OldRoses,
thanks so much for dropping in!
56? Hell, you're way ahead of me. I just can't seem to get motivated this year.
Nope, no sprouts here yet. Might be a good thing as I'm sure we'll have that 'nasty' burst yet. I'm not going to whine that you have sprouts already as you're a warmer zone than me and should be ahead! But, I'll be watching your blog for updates of exactly how far ahead you are. lol. I can't complain if I don't know!

There are plenty of signs of spring where I am at too. But it is still to early to get things in the ground. I am working on growing enough flowers to dry them and do the craft circuit this fall. I am always looking for tips on how to dry flowers. But before I can dry them I have to be successful in growing them...
