Even after 7 years of Winter Sowing, I'm still amazed, every single spring, with those first ambitious sprouts. It has been freezing or below every night for the last week, 30's F during the day, and yet, here they are!
I'm doing the happy dance!
These two are always expected to be the first to win the race:
Poppies
and Bachelor Buttons

If you don't know what Winter Sowing is, you can get more info from here, WinterSown.org, and here, GardenWeb's WS Forum. There is still plenty of time to give it a try if your still getting pretty cool weather, especially with annuals. Go for it!

Awesome progress! I enjoy poppies...can't wait to see them in full bloom.
Very Nice. Seedlings look great. Is it ok to start some petunias now? our day time temperatures are going to 50 and 60s but frost date is in Mid May. Or is it too late?

I'd say it's fine to start petunias in jugs now - Our last frost date is May 31, and I plop mine out in the snow in January and have excellent success with them. Go for it!
Thank you. I will start some (marigolds and petunias) this weekend and surely update you how they turn out.
